Must ReadPeople often ask me what the best investments are but there is one answer which usually surprises them more than others – books. Think about it for a moment, say you spend $10-20 on a book about the gold market. That single, small purchase provides you with a wealth of information on why gold is important, why you should buy or sell gold, how to buy or sell gold, and so on. Buy a few different books about the gold market and you have spent say $30-$60. As you work your way through them you start to see relationships between their content, common trends or investment themes. You might also learn about different parts of the same story from the different books, perhaps about the historic use of gold as money in one, how gold standards operate in another, and how we moved towards unbacked fiat paper money in the third. By reading all three gold books you enhance your understanding of the overall picture and more importantly, as you pick through different facts set out by different authors you will start to formulate your own opinion as to the likely price action of gold in the years ahead. The small investment you make up front in books pays itself back a hundred-fold when you take what you have learned, become a better informed investor, and position your portfolio accordingly.
